About
A little
about me
I’m Shruti, a costume designer from Jaipur, based in Mumbai. I’ve spent ten years in the industry, with five years in films and five in advertising.
I’m drawn to characters you feel you might already know. I start with their lives: where they come from, how they spend their days, what they care about. Those details help me find the fabric, the print and the fit. I want the clothes to feel like something they would have chosen themselves.

The making
I enjoy working out what a costume needs to have been through. Sometimes that means ageing a garment until it feels familiar. Sometimes it means building something from scratch.
My work includes detailed custom costumes, period and science-fiction requirements, and wardrobe execution for crowds and large set pieces.

In Bagru
Alongside my screen work, I run a clothing label, creating pieces from scratch with local artisans in Bagru, Rajasthan. It gives me room to explore fabrics, prints and tailoring, and to stay close to how things are made.
Film work
My film work includes projects directed by Raj Trivedi, Mohit Suri, Vardhan Ketkar and Rishabh Seth, with casts including Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur.
